Dearest friends,

For almost thirty years, we’ve shared a bit of who we are with the community each and every first weekend in February. Our annual Crab Fest weekend is one of the biggest - and most important - events we hold each year.

We love this event not only because we get to see you, our friends and colleagues, but also the dozens of clients who are trained to prepare, cook, and serve a sumptuous crab dinner. Crab fest is far more than your usual fundraiser. It’s also an opportunity for our clients to meet you, get to work and do a good job, earn a little money, and maybe most importantly - build confidence. You have no idea how much this event means to our clients.

A story that comes to mind is our client, Niko. Niko has been with us for 6 years, and through his time with Howard Prep, has gained employment working at a local gym! Where did he gain those skills? Right here at Howard Prep, learning through helping manage events like Crab Fest.

We’d love for you to consider a tax-deductible donation to help keep finding opportunities for our clients. Outside of those in our Work Employment programs, we are in dire need for host families to support our Home at Last program. It’s a great way to earn extra money and it can create lifelong relationships. We have host families who have been with us for decades!
