Founded in Modesto in the 1950s, Howard Prep empowers individuals with disabilities through vocational training and support. Its founders aimed to create a space for skill development, independence, and meaningful employment.

Initially focused on basic life skills, the center expanded its programs to include vocational training in areas such as cooking, gardening, and crafts, helping participants build practical skills and self-confidence. Partnerships with local businesses facilitated job placement opportunities, allowing individuals to earn wages and integrate into the community.

Over the years, Howard Prep has fostered a supportive environment that encourages friendships and personal growth. Its impact is reflected in the success stories of participants who have transformed their lives and become active community members.

Now, after 70 years, Howard Prep continues to adapt to the community's needs, celebrating the unique strengths of each individual and remaining a vital resource for empowerment and inclusion in Modesto.
